Upon conclusion of investigations of public interest, including those where deadly force has occurred, it is the policy of the District Attorney to notify the media and the public of the final legal decision.  The following information is presented with regard to recent decisions of this office.  The inclusion of specific incidents is updated on a regular basis.

2011

• Effective May 26, 2011, possession and/or distribution of chemically manufactured (synthetic) cathinones are prohibited in the State of Kansas.

• District Attorney Nola Tedesco Foulston announces completion of the review of the law enforcement use of deadly force resulting in the death of Robert Scharoun occurring November 12, 2010, in the 2000 block of North Keeneland, in Wichita, Sedgwick County Kansas.

• District Attorney Nola Tedesco Foulston announces completion of the review of the law enforcement use of deadly force resulting in the death of Jerome Dixon occurring November 5th, 2010, at 4818 E. New Jersey Drive, Apartment 102, in Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas.

2010

• District Attorney Nola Tedesco Foulston announces charges have been filed against Sharon K. Huddleston, Case No. 10CR2421, and Rhonda L. Pischel, Case No. 10CR2422, for the murder of Todd M. Stover in May 2000.

2009

• District Attorney Nola Foulston announces Gary L. Hammitt, age 54, waived his right to a trial and entered a plea of guilty as charged in 08CR2893 this morning before District Court Judge Jeff Goering, Div. 26
• District Attorney Nola Foulston announces that a bill drafted by her office regarding mistreatment and endangerment of dependent adults is being introduced in the Kansas Legislature under the auspices of the Kansas County and District Attorneys Association.

2008

• District Attorney Nola Tedesco Foulston announces that the grand jury convened on January 8, 2008, in response to a petition drive has been discharged after completing its investigation into allegations of violations of the laws pertaining to abortion by physicians and others at Women’s Health Care Services.
• District Attorney Nola Tedesco Foulston announces the completion of an investigation regarding an incident at the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility on February 15, 2008, involving Edgar Richard. Manual J. Diaz, Jr.
