The Special
Projects Unit (SPU) concentrates much of their efforts on
coordinating with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on
training, readiness and security issues, and represents the
Sheriff’s Office at DHS regional, statewide and national
levels. SPU is also involved with administering critical
computer programs including the Records and Jail management
systems, and is responsible for planning and research on
technical issues and equipment within the Sheriff’s Office.
SPU involvement ensures continuity and organized implementation
of projects within the office.
