About Us
The Sedgwick County Department on Aging was
established in 1980 to serve older citizens of the county and advocate to
preserve their independence and improve their quality of life.Sedgwick County Department on Aging is
responsible for planning, managing and evaluating programs and services for
the elderly. It is the agency designated to administer federal, state and
local funds allocated to provide programs and services that assure older adults are able to access the rights and benefits they need and
deserve.
According to the 2000 census, the Sedgwick County population of persons
age 60 and older is as follows:
- Ages 60-64 - 14,907
- Ages 65-74 - 26,923
- Ages 75-84 - 16,677
- Ages 85+ - 5,974
Total population of persons age 60 and older - 64,481
