In-Home Services
In-home services offer assistance to
seniors age 60 and older in the home and often mean the
difference between staying at home or changing housing
residence such as moving in with family or transitioning
to a nursing home. Traditional in-home services
provided by a home health or designated individual.
This is a resource available through the Sedgwick County
Department on Aging or private pay option. These programs include
housekeeping, meal preparation, hands on care, and

Below are other services offered in Sedgwick County and provided in the home assisting seniors to remain in their home for as long as possible.
CASE MANAGEMENT
A case manager performs an assessment of an older individual's
physical, psychological, and social needs, develops a tailored plan of care of
services to meet those needs, sets up services, and monitors service delivery
COMCARE OF SEDGWICK COUNTY - CAPS Program
This program provides professional mental health services to eligible participants (Sedgwick County residents age 60 years and older) who are in need of mental health counseling. Counseling may be provided at the older adult's home, senior center, COMCARE office, or at a location comfortable for the individual.
ENVISION - Senior Outreach and Services (SOS)
Envision provides in-home consultation teaching to adults age 60 and older. Trained staff will assist eligible individuals in learning day-to-day techniques that will allow them to remain independent in their own home for a longer period of time. Resource information will also be made available as it is requested.
PUBLIC BENEFITS OUTREACH
This program provides one-on-one support to adults age 60 and older who need assistance in applying for public benefits such as:

Medical assistance programs (Medicaid, Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries, and Specified Low-Income Beneficiaries Programs);

Food stamps;
-
Low-Income Energy Assistance Program;
-
Homestead and Food Sales Tax Refund; and
-
Operation Holiday.
SENIOR COMPANION PROGRAM
Employment opportunities are available for eligible older adults seeking additional income by assisting other older adults needing support in the home. This program also provides in-home assistance for older adults who are frail and homebound and needing assistance with daily activities (meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, medication reminders and socialization).
SEDGWICK COUNTY IN-HOME PROGRAM
This program features a new and innovative service called
TeleHealth. TeleHealth is a medical monitoring system that was developed
to educate individuals with specific chronic diseases, manage their disease(s)
through self-management tools and techniques. This program allows
individuals to self-monitor their health and transmit their vital signs and
symptoms to the TeleHealth nurse who helps each participant understand the link
between lifestyle choices and their disease.
SENIOR SERVICES, INC. - Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels program provides an eligible adults age 60 and older a nutritious meal five days per week to assist them in remaining in their home for as long as possible.
SENIOR SERVICES, INC. - Neighborhood Connections
This program matches volunteers with low-income, frail adults age 60 years and older in Sedgwick County who need limited or intermittent help with tasks of daily living such as yard care, minor repair, housekeeping, and telephone assurance.
SENIOR SERVICES, INC. - Roving Pantry
Roving Pantry provides grocery shopping services to eligible adults age 60 and older enabling them to obtain staple grocery and sundry items without leaving home and assisting them to live as independently as possible by obtaining necessary food items.
