The INTRUST Bank Arena will make a large and
long-term impact on downtown Wichita. Sedgwick County
and the City of Wichita are working together to create a
neighborhood that will make downtown a vibrant community
and destination point for years to come, in an
atmosphere that provides for future economic development
and enhances quality of life in an exciting center city.
This area includes: INTRUST Bank Arena, Old Town
entertainment district, WaterWalk, Proposed Art
District, Proposed Century II expansion, Eaton Place
block and Transit Center.

Arena Timeline
Sedgwick County has outlined a schedule of major milestones in the INTRUST Bank Arena project to help citizens understand the timeline and potential opportunities for input. Additional information will be added to the timeline and more specific details as we move along in the process.

Citizen Design Review Committee
A group of citizens who will obtain input from the community about the design of the Arena and provide input to the Sedgwick County Building Design Team.

Governor Signs Arena Bill:
On April 4, 2005, Governor Kathleen Sebelius signed the INTRUST Bank Arena tax bill authorizing Sedgwick County to collect a one percent sales tax beginning July 1, 2005 for 30 months. The sales tax will end no later than December 2007 and the INTRUST Bank Arena will open the end of 2008/early 2009. The INTRUST Bank Arena will be a 15,000 basketball seat, multi-purpose entertainment arena, with a cost of $184.5 million.
Architectural and
Engineering Services:
On April 19, Sedgwick County posted a Request For Proposal for architectural & engineering services to design and construct the new INTRUST Bank Arena in downtown Wichita.
On June 7, Sedgwick County received three proposals for the INTRUST Bank Arena Architectural and Engineering Services. For more information on responses to RFP click here.

Property Acquisition:
The land required for construction of the arena has been purchased in downtown Wichita. Most of the tracts of land were purchased through a voluntary purchase process with the landowners. The following information will be helpful for those interested in understanding the property acquisition and displaced persons rights and benefits through this process.
