Safe Communities Coalition Mission: To create a safe environment for the citizens within Sedgwick County.

Goal: To reduce the incidence of injury through public awareness (understanding), education, and legislative initiatives. This will be accomplished through the development of community partnerships at the neighborhood level …

  • Accessing local injury data and identifying areas of concern
  • Expanding community partnerships
  • Explore all current injury control efforts within Sedgwick County
  • Promoting injury as a "health issue"
  • Developing a plan of action to implement programs to address safety concerns
  • Providing support to local law enforcement agencies
  • Evaluating projects and programs; making modifications as needed

SKIP – South Central Kansas Infant Protections Mission: SKIP serves as a facilitator to enhance communication, training and teamwork between health care professionals and law enforcement, with the ultimate goal being the prevention of infant abductions from health care facilities.

Purpose & Goal: SKIP’s goal is to have consistent policies and programs in place at all hospitals to prevent infant and child abductions.

The Wellness Coalition Mission: To bring together health resources in partnership with neighborhoods to improve the health of the community.

Purpose: To integrate neighborhood based coalitions for a healthy community.

Objective:

  • Identify and pull together community resources.
  • Provide an ongoing assessment of neighborhood assets and needs.
  • Engage individuals, families and neighborhoods in the educational process of what it means to be healthy.
  • Establish, maintain and evaluate communication links between resources and neighborhoods.
  • Identify, prioritize, implement and evaluate targeted projects.

Wichita’s Promise: The Alliance for Youth Mission: Turn the Tide for Wichita’s Youth

To serve as a catalyst in fostering total community support and collaboration to provide ever increasing numbers of youth with access to the fundamental building blocks of development: Caring adults, Healthy Starts, Safe and Structured Places, Effective Education for Marketable Skills, and Opportunities to Serve.

Goal:

  • Make children our community’s priority.
  • Connect an additional 3,000 young people, from birth to 18, with all five of the fundamental resources by the year 2000.
  • Serve an additional 2,000 young people, from birth to 18, with one or more of the five fundamental resources by the year 2000.
  • Continue to mobilize new commitments from the natural support systems in neighborhoods and community, all geared toward dramatically increasing the number of young people connected to the five resources.
