District Attorney Nola Tedesco Foulston announced today that an amended petition has been filed against dating service franchises in Wichita and Overland Park. The defendants include Valentine Wichita, LLC d/b/a Great Expectations, and Valentine Kansas City, LLC d/b/a Great Expectations. The Amended Petition is filed jointly with the Kansas Attorney General's Office. The original petition alleged that Great Expectations violated the Kansas Consumer Protection Act through deceptive and unconscionable practices, and further alleged violations of the Kansas Do Not Call Act. Some of these violations included obtaining credit card information and charging unauthorized expeditures. The Amended Petition added additional victims and seeks $300,000 in additional penalties.
