Nola Tedesco Foulston, District Attorney

Consumer Media Release

July 15, 2004

The Office of District Attorney Nola Tedesco Foulston announces that on July 13, 2004, a judgment was granted in District Court against Jubilee Debt Free, a Kansas corporation, and Albert Dunn and Jim Turner, individually, for violating the Kansas Consumer Protection Act.

Jubilee Debt Free operated as a consumer debt counseling service. In exchange for payment for their services, Jubilee Debt Free promised to provide a program for consumers to eliminate their credit card debts. They advised consumers to stop making payments on their debts as a part of their program. Jubilee Debt Free failed to provide three-day right-to-cancel contracts as required by law and failed to tell consumers that their theories of debt avoidance had not been approved by any appellate court.

The District Attorney's Office Consumer Fraud and Economic Crime Division is requesting that anyone who did business with Jubilee Debt Free through its agents Albert Dunn or Jim Turner to call 383-7281 to speak to an investigator.
