Sedgwick County, Kansas EMS
Public Education
Sedgwick County EMS has been proactive in the community to enhance the public's knowledge
and understanding of our service. Through our Public Education program, we target citizens
of all ages and locations throughout the County who desire to know more about us. To
schedule a public education event, contact EMS at (316) 660-7994 or email
shadley@sedgwick.gov.
One of our most popular
Public Education programs has been in the school system. EMS paramedics go to the
classrooms and explain to children how to access our service, demonstrate the equipment on
them, and provide an ambulance tour all of this is designed to make them more familiar
with our service should they ever need to use it.
Safety belts and child safety seats have been part of
our injury prevention efforts since our Service began. With our mascots Vince & Larry,
the crash dummies, we continue to promote proper usage by incorporating this message into
our school programs, as well as using our mascots as friendly reminders in community
events.
Sedgwick County EMS is a regional Basic Life Support Training Center for the American Heart
Association. To enhance the public's role in EMS, our paramedics
offer Community Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation - (CPR) programs. Early public
intervention is often vital to the patient's outcome in a cardiac related incident. The
Community CPR program provides us an opportunity to teach an important skill and increase
awareness of our Service. For information or CPR classes, contact Sedgwick County EMS at
