Volunteers

Sedgwick County EMS Reserves is a volunteer group that supports SCEMS by providing additional help in the form of Kansas Certified EMT’s. Our mission is to provide the community with experienced and confident EMT’s prepared for any emergency able to respond and act in a manner safe to the provider and to the patient and to provide hands on experience for paramedic students in preparation for a career in EMS.

Sedgwick County EMS Reserves began in 1985 and has grown to over 35 members today. These dedicated volunteers provide support to EMS by providing an EMT "third-person" on units, medical personnel at large civic events and uniformed assistance at public education programs. Our members are part of the SCEMS Bike Team, the DMSU team and are CPR Instructors. The Reserves work more than 5,000 donated hours for Sedgwick County EMS per year.

Our dedicated volunteers are business owners, students, nurses, housewives, and members of the military to name just a few of the varied occupations held. All members have the common goal of helping the community in time of need and providing the best possible care during that time.

This division is supported by Sedgwick County EMS through equipment, supplies, uniforms and training. All volunteer personnel are required to be certified at the EMT level or higher and to maintain current certification by participating in continuous education hours.
