Solid Waste Plan

A public hearing was held April 24 at the Sedgwick County Zoo's Education Building to review and seek public input on the Solid Waste Plan update.  Review the 10-year solid waste update and executive summary recommendations from the Solid Waste Committee.

2006 Environmental Report

Sedgwick County is pleased to provide County residents with the Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. 2006 Environmental Report. Its purpose is to inform the public on general environmental health issues and the state of the environment in Sedgwick County. This report is a compilation of information and up-to-date reports on air quality, water quality, and solid waste.


Sedgwick County Solid Waste

In 2005, Sedgwick County generated 459,067 tons of municipal solid waste. That's 5.42 pounds/person/day. Kansas averaged 6.1 pounds/person/day.


Mission

The Department of Environmental Resources is responsible for protecting the environment through conservation of resources.  Our department coordinates all components of solid waste management, promotes waste minimization, and provides environmental education for the citizens and businesses of Sedgwick County.
