Transfer Stations
Trash
haulers in Sedgwick County dispose of municipal solid waste in transfer
stations. Inside a transfer station, trash is dumped onto a concrete
floor, and then loaded into specially designed semi trailers. These
trailers take the trash to
Plumb Thicket Landfill in Harper County for disposal.
Sedgwick County residents are encouraged to self-haul large, bulky items
(i.e. tires, appliances, wood waste, brush, etc.) to either of the two
transfer stations in our county. CFC containing appliances such as air
conditioners, freezers, and refrigerators are accepted at the Waste
Connections Transfer Station and are subject to an additional charge.
