The Sedgwick County Fire Department Mission Statement states
that “No function of government is more basic to an orderly society than those concerned with the protection of life and property.”
Fire Department staff strive to ensure that every effort is made to protect
our community from the perils of fire.
To assist us in making our community a safer place to live and to raise our
children, take a few minutes to review our Residential Fire Safety Checklist. This checklist was created by our Fire Prevention Bureau
to help residents identify potential fire or safety hazards that may be present in your home.
Spend a few minutes with your family and complete this checklist.
If you answer a question with a “NO” response, this indicates
that a potential fire or safety hazard may exist. Please take the necessary steps to make corrections to the situation so that you can change
your answer to “YES.”
If you would like to have a professional inspector help you
survey your home, contact us at 660-3473 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through
Friday. Our staff can explain why something is a fire hazard, and we can suggest
alternatives to help reduce your hazard.
