Fire Camp

"The Toughest Job You'll Ever Love"
The Sedgwick County Fire Department hosts annual Fire Camps, at which students
are given the opportunity for hands-on
experience with the training firefighters must go through, and the skill
levels they must attain to work in the profession. Fire Camp was an idea
that came to life by Captain Tavis Leake who works in fire prevention and
investigations. He wanted the department to make a connection with youth who
may be considering firefighting as a career.
The goal of Fire Camp was to impress on the teams:
- Teamwork
- Discipline
- Courage
- Shared Responsibility
- Task Focus
- Rapid Response
- Participative Leadership
- Dedication to the Profession
