The Childrens Dental
Clinic provides free dental care to eligible children from Wichita and Sedgwick County Schools. To be
eligible children ages 5-15 cannot have private dental insurance, Medicaid, or Kansas Healthwave and must qualify for the free or reduced lunch program at their school. The school nurse makes referral for children to participate in the clinic. Wichita State University dental hygiene students receive clinical experience and instruction as they provide preventive care
under the supervision of the staff hygienist. Over 33 volunteer dentists and oral surgeons from the community donate their time and services to provide children restorative and extraction needs.

The Molardrama, an event organized by
Health Department Dental Clinic Staff, gives over 5,000 second
graders from Wichita and Sedgwick County an opportunity to attend theatre melodrama with the focus of how to have healthy teeth for
a lifetime. Each child receives a toothbrush, floss, stickers, and an apple coupon to be redeemed at the childs area Dillons store for an apple. Donations from the Wichita District Dental Society, Delta Dental, the Boeing Company, Dillons and the American Cancer Society help fund this annual event.

Eighty-five percent of women who use no contraceptives during
vaginal intercourse become pregnant each year. The only guarantee
against pregnancy is not having vaginal intercourse. Other
contraceptive methods can greatly reduce your pregnancy risk during

In addition to reducing the chance of pregnancy, certain types of
Birth Control such as condoms can reduce sexually transmitted
diseases.
