Park Fees

Recreational Permits

A valid recreational permit is required to use a motor vehicle within Lake Afton Park and shall be prominently displayed on the vehicle. The park superintendent shall issue daily and annual permits. Permits may be purchased from a designated fixed location within the park at the following rates.

Exceptions: A recreational permit shall not be required during certain days each year when large events take place. Those dates will be posted in a prominent location at park entrances. A recreational permit is not required on vehicles operated by staff, vendors or visitors of the Judge Riddel Boy's Ranch, shooting range, or observatory, unless those persons are actively involved in recreation on the Lake Afton premises. There is no recreational permit fee for fishing.

Camping Permits

Fees for a Lake Afton camping permit purchased at the park office or at the self-pay station shall be as follows:

Water hook-ups are available at only 16 sites, and there is an extra $2/day charge for these sites.

Boating Permits

Fees for a Lake Afton boating permit purchased at the park office or at the self-pay station shall be as follows:

  Regular Rate Senior Rate - 62 and older & Military
Any unpowered vessel $5.00/day $45.00/year
All powered boats up to 20 hp. $5.00/day $45.00/year
21 hp. - 99 hp. $6.00/day $55.00/year
100 hp. & up $7.00/day $65.00/year
Boat Dealers: (for demonstration
and testing purposes only)
$150.00/year  
An additional $5.00/day fee will be assessed for Camping permits purchased from park security.
Full-year boat permits are NOT available to boats not registered in Sedgwick County.

Fishing Permits

Lake Afton does not require a permit to fish; however, a state fishing license is required.

All fees and permits must be obtained at the park office.
