Severe Weather Awareness
Springtime in Kansas brings the threat of severe weather and tornadoes. Sedgwick County Emergency Management reminds the citizens to take precautions now to be prepared in the event of an emergency.
Here is a list of things you can do to be prepared when severe weather strikes:
- Have a radio with a backup battery. If the weather looks bad, take it along!
- Know where your closest, safest shelter (safe room, basement, etc.) is located.
- Prepare an emergency kit (flashlight, radio with batteries, water, shoes and blankets) for your home and your car.
- Discuss a plan with your family members, especially with children, that includes what to do in case of severe weather.
