Health and Human Services Stimulus Projects
Potential projects
Health Department
- Electronic Medical Records: ($ TBD) The Medical Society of
Sedgwick County (MSSC), along with physicians and hospitals in Sedgwick
County, is already in the process of implementing an electronic medical
records (EMR) system that will allow providers to send patient information
back and forth.
The exchange of health information is complicated, in part, because of the highly sensitive and personal information involved. The computers, servers and networks that carry the information must be secure. Legal issues, such as who has the rights to the information — patients, providers, insurance companies, for example — must be addressed.
Improved health outcomes, improved efficiencies for local physicians and hospitals that eventually lowers health costs for everyone in the community.
County Commission Approved for Application
