QLess Frequently Asked Questions

Updated 1/27/2022

Sedgwick County Health Department uses a service called QLess to manage the flow of people who need COVID-19 testing at its testing site at 4115 E. Harry in Wichita. [Map It]

What is QLess?

QLess replaces physical lines and waiting rooms with virtual lines. The SCHD Testing Site uses QLess to allow people to get in line either online or via text message. Once in line, users receive periodic text updates from QLess with their current estimated wait time. During this wait time, users can stay at home, stay in their car, or remain in another location. Users should not enter the SCHD Testing Site until they have received a QLess message indicating it is time to do so.

How do I get in line?

Users can get in line either online or via text message.  To do so online, click HERE.  Follow the prompts to register the number of people getting tested and provide contact information.

To get in line via text, send the text message "SC COVID TEST" to 316-215-8313. To send a text message, open your phone's messaging app. Select the New Message or Compose Message option (often indicated by a plus-sign or pencil icon).  In the "TO:" field, enter the phone number 316-215-8313. In the body of the message, type "SC COVID TEST," and hit send.

Why does my wait time sometimes increase?

Waiting times may fluctuate due to the rate at which tests are completed at the Testing Site; the QLess system automatically adjusts wait times based on this customer flow. As a result, your waiting time may occasionally increase, but your place in line is never changed. The QLess system does not allow anyone to jump in line ahead of you.

What if I didn't get a text message back?

Messages from QLess may originate from a phone number that is different from the one you texted to get in line. Try checking other incoming texts for a message that begins "Welcome to QLess ..."

If you still can't find a text message, try these steps:

Online sign-in: Please try again using the online option HERE, or try the text sign-in option instead.
Text sign-in: Try again, double-checking that the phone number in the "TO:" field is 316-265-8313 and that the text message reads "SC COVID TEST" (no quotation marks).

If none of these solutions work for you, visit the Testing Site at 4115 E. Harry St. and ask one of the staff to add you to the Qless line manually.

What if I received a "Welcome to QLess ..." text but I am not receiving status updates?

Status update messages from QLess may originate from different phone numbers. Try checking other incoming texts for a message that begins "Status update ..."

If you still do not find a "Status update ..." text message, text "S" (no quotation marks) to the number from which you received the "Welcome to QLess ..." text.

If you still do not receive a status update, please report the issue to the staff at the 4115 E. Harry St. Testing Site.

What if I can't arrive on time?

You can always requests more time by texting "M" (no quotation marks) in response to any QLess status update. If you won't be able to get tested that day, you can type "L" to leave the line.

I don't have a mobile phone – does that mean I can't get tested?

You can still get tested. Visit the Testing Site at 4115 E. Harry St.  One of the staff at the site can manually add you to the QLess line. The staff will provide an estimated waiting time.

Why didn't QLess send my test results?

QLess does not send test results. Test results are delivered through the WSU Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory portal. When your results are ready, you will receive an e-mail at the email address you provided during testing registration.
