Fire Chief Tavis D. Leake
Tavis D. Leake began his fire service career with the Sedgwick County Fire District #1 in November 1991. Over a span of 25 years Chief Leake has served in the capacity of Firefighter, Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator, Fire Lieutenant, Fire Captain, Fire Marshal, and Fire Chief. Prior to becoming the Fire Chief, Chief Leake served as the Fire Marshal where he was responsible for all aspects of fire prevention. As Fire Chief, Chief Leake is responsible for the effective, efficient and legal conduct of the department. Chief Leake plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the administration, prevention and operational activities of the department. Chief Leake is a graduate of the National Fire Academy, where he completed his Executive Fire Officer certification. Chief Leake holds a Master's Degree in Security Administration from Southwestern College and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Barclay College.
