Considered Armed and Dangerous

Detectives are trying to track down a violent sex offender who has been running from the law for eight years. Investigators say Vernon Coleman is a man you do not want near your children. He is wanted on several sex crimes and he's been running from the law for nearly a decade. With your help, detectives can get this man off the street. Detectives say, in 1995, Coleman raped and sodomized a young girl near a former strip joint in the 6700 block of Southeast Boulevard, just outside of Derby. After the incident was reported, Coleman took off. Since then, deputies have been trying to track him down. His last location was Florida, but there's no telling where he could be now. Officials say he sometimes works as a cab driver or a trucker. Coleman has led a life connected to strip joints, but the main concern police have is how dangerous Coleman is to the community. Coleman is considered armed and dangerous. If you see this man, officers say you should not approach him.
