Executive Fire Officer

Battalion Chief Terry Mauldin has
successfully completed the process that awards
him the professional designation of “Executive
Fire Officer” (EFO). The Executive Fire Officer
Program (EFOP) is a voluntary program with the
National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland,
designed to enhance professional development
through a unique series of four graduate and
upper-division-baccalaureate equivalent courses.
The EFOP spans a 4-year period with 4 core
courses, each two weeks in length.
Terry will also be graduating from Grand Canyon
(Arizona) University with his Masters Degree in
Executive Fire Service Leadership.
ISO Property Protection Classes
The ISO
Property Protection Class (PPC) program
provides important, up-to-date information about
municipal fire-protection services throughout
the country. A community’s investment in fire
mitigation is a proven and reliable predictor of
future fire losses. So insurance companies use
PPC information to help establish fair premiums
for fire insurance — generally offering lower
premiums in communities with better protection.
The following list
is the ISO Property Protection Class’s for
cities within Sedgwick County Fire District #1.

Wichita Eagle Editorial

If you received a 41%
reduction in your annual fire insurance premium
would you be elated? I know my wife and I
are!
Our insurance company just
confirmed that our premium has been reduced by
almost $100 per month as a result of more than a
year of research, study and persistent efforts
by the leadership and staff of Sedgwick County
Fire District #1. Their hard work resulted
in getting the fire property class rating
reduced from 9-10 to 5-10 for the majority of
the homeowners in Sedgwick County Fire District
#1.
The leadership, staff and
fire crews of Sedgwick County Fire District #1
are a highly professional team of first
responders to fire calls, accidents, medical
emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, as
well as natural or man made disasters and
events.
They deserve sincere thanks
and gratitude from the public for their
dedication and professionalism to protecting our
lives and property while minimizing our fire
insurance premium.

Sedgwick County's policy. Due to intelligence reports on
possible terrorist attempts to gain fire and EMS
uniforms, equipment and even vehicles, we will only
trade patches with other local public safety or
governmental agencies.
THE MISSION OF FIRE DISTRICT #1
IS….
To serve the public by protecting life
and property, minimizing the impact of fire, and rapidly
responding to medical emergencies, potential disasters
or uncontrolled events that adversely affect the
community and environment.
