Special Meeting Aug. 7 for Sedgwick County Purple Heart Designation

(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – A proclamation designating Sedgwick County as a Purple Heart County will be presented during a special meeting of the Sedgwick County Board of County Commissioners Monday, Aug. 7 at 1:30 p.m. in the Lower-Level Auditorium of the Ruffin Building, 100 N. Broadway. The Purple Heart distinction, given by the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) Chapter 558, recognizes the sacrifice of local veterans wounded or killed in combat.

During the special meeting, Sedgwick County Public Works will unveil road signs bearing the Purple Heart County designation. Ten signs in all will greet drivers on major roads and state highways leading into Sedgwick County.

A reception will immediately follow the special meeting, outside the auditorium.

This event will broadcast live on the Sedgwick County YouTube and Facebook pages.
