Whether you want to quit now or simply get information for a loved one, the
24-hour Kansas Tobacco Quitline can help. They provide Kansas citizens with
screening, counseling, support materials and referral for tobacco cessation
assistance based on individual's readiness to quit, as well as comprehensive
follow-up counseling.

As a healthcare provider, you know the impact that smoking has on health. The Sedgwick County Health Department is collaborating with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to provide information about the Kansas Tobacco Quitline, an important resource to aid in patients’ efforts to quit smoking.
Respiratory therapists and physicians have the ability to be a major contributor in the efforts to reduce smoking and tobacco use. In effort to inform professionals in your field about the Tobacco Quitline, we ask that you please take our 10-minute, pre-training survey, watch the training video, and complete the post-training survey. We appreciate your time and dedication to patient care and hope that you will implement the "5 As" approach and the Kansas Tobacco Quitline in your practice.

According to the Center for Disease Control's Behavioral Risk
Factor Surveillance System, tobacco use among adults in the United States,
Kansas and Sedgwick County has remained relatively constant and similar over
recent years.
Comparing Sedgwick County to Kansas and the United States shows we have a higher percentage of current adult smokers.
- 20 percent of Sedgwick County adults currently smoke
- 17.9 percent of Kansas adults currently smoke
- 19.8 percent of American adults currently smoke

Who's Smoking in Kansas?
The same survey shows approximately 18 percent of Kansans are smokers and the most distinct differences in the proportion of smokers are within the income and education categories.
