Overdose in jail 4.2.24

On April 2, 2024, at approximately 1230 hours, four inmates experienced medical emergencies in Pod 19 of the Sedgwick County Detention Facility. Detention and medical staff responded to the pod and administered Naloxone to the inmates.  The inmates responded positively to the Naloxone. All four inmates were transported to a local area hospital for additional treatment; it is believed all four will be released from the hospital following treatment.

The substance that was ingested by the inmates is unconfirmed but is believed to contain an Opiate.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office Investigation’s Division was contacted and are investigating the incident.  Any evidence of criminal misconduct will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
