he presided over the commission’s weekly meetings last year. He has served on
the Greater Wichita Economic Development Commission, the K-96 Corridor economic
development group and is now serving on the Criminal Justice Coordinating
Council.
Prior to his election on the commission, Peterjohn also served on the Wichita
Library Board. In that capacity he was elected to annual terms as the treasurer,
secretary, and appointed to chair the finance commission during his eight years
on the library board. He currently serves on the board of directors for
the Wichita Independent Business Association.
Peterjohn has a bachelor's and master's degree from Ohio University. He graduated
with honors in economics and government for his bachelors of arts degree. His
masters degree was also in economics.
In the 1970s, Peterjohn worked in the California Department of Finance as a
budget analyst under then Governor Ronald Reagan. He later received
international business experience in the computer industry. Before joining the
commission Peterjohn had been a leading advocate for taxpayers at the Kansas
statehouse with the Kansas Taxpayers Network for 16 years. Peterjohn is a
supporter of voter empowerment by requiring voter approval of taxes, protecting
citizens from eminent domain abuse, and backs term limits.
He is a strong advocate for adoption.
Peterjohn lives in west Wichita with his wife and two children. In his
recreational time he enjoys a variety of sports, reading, and gardening. In 1987
Peterjohn was honored and delighted to represent Kansas as an age group
representative in the United State Triathlon Series National Championship.
