Fatal Crash Under Investigation at 135th St. W. and 29th St. N.
SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday, August 14, 2025.
At approximately 5:04 p.m., deputies, along with the Wichita Fire Department, Sedgwick County Fire, and Sedgwick County EMS, responded to multiple reports of a crash at the intersection of 135th St. W. and 29th St. N.
First responders found a gray Dodge Dart and a blue Mitsubishi Outlander had collided in the intersection. The impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway into the field southeast of the intersection.
Unfortunately, the driver of the Dodge Dart, 42-year-old Tiffany M. Jones (McKinney) of Wichita, died at the scene despite lifesaving efforts by EMS personnel. It was determined that she was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Mitsubishi Outlander, a 26-year-old woman from Maize, was transported with serious injuries along with three minor children passengers (ages nine, six and four) with serious injuries, to Wesley Hospital.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office crash reconstruction team responded to assist with the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate the Dodge Dart was traveling eastbound on 29th St. N. and failed to stop at the stop sign at 135th St. W. and was struck by the Mitsubishi Outlander traveling south on 135th St. W.
Impairment is not suspected and the investigation is ongoing.
