County Holidays

On Nov. 5, 2025, the Board of County Commissioners amended Policy 4.710 Holiday Pay to establish a fixed list of County Observed Holidays. Previously, the Commission approved holidays annually for each new calendar year. The observed holidays are on the following dates:

New Year’s Day
Martin Luther King Day
Presidents' Day
Memorial Day
Juneteenth
Independence Day
Labor Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving
Friday after Thanksgiving
Christmas Day

* - Per Policy 4.710, “when a holiday falls on a Saturday, Sedgwick County will observe the holiday on the Friday immediately preceding. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, Sedgwick County will observe the holiday on the Monday immediately following. Holidays that fall Monday through Friday will be observed on the day of the holiday.”
