Michelle Calvert named Director of COMCARE of Sedgwick County

Sedgwick County has named Michelle Calvert as the Director of COMCARE of Sedgwick County. She will oversee COMCARE’s mental health and substance abuse services.

Calvert has served the public with COMCARE since 2012 when she joined the team as a team supervisor. In 2014, she began the Program Manager of the Children’s Therapy Clinic, responsible for the supervision of 22 clinicians while building and maintaining relationships with affiliate providers, agencies and task groups. Calvert was named Director of Quality and Strategic Innovation in 2018, overseeing risk management and compliance for quality of services provided by COMCARE. She transitioned to the Director of Quality and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) in 2021, identifying new technologies and strategies to solve organizational boundaries to ensure positive clinical outcomes.

“We are excited to welcome the innovative mindset Michelle brings to the Director of COMCARE position,” Sedgwick County Manager Tom Stolz said. “Michelle has been instrumental in leading COMCARE to CCBHC certification and helping elevate the level of care to vulnerable populations in our community. Her leadership will continue to elevate COMCARE as a vital resource to our residents by strengthening partnerships and systems, as well as the availability and awareness of our services.”

Calvert has worked with youths dating back nearly 20 years when she served as a Case Manager and Outpatient Clinician at Youthville Family Consultation Service — now known as EmberHope Youthville — prior to joining COMCARE. She is also the Chair of the Sedgwick County Early Childhood Coordinating Council.
