SCFD1 assisting with Controlled Burn at Oaklawn Improvement District

(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – In partnership with the Oaklawn Improvement District, Sedgwick County Fire District 1 (SCFD1) is scheduled to have a prescribed burn today, March 9, 2026, at 1 p.m. to improve the park walking area just west of the Oaklawn Improvement District. These burns help enhance the area by removing noxious weeds and overgrown sticker patches.

SCFD1 will be assisting the Oaklawn Improvement District with the burn. Weather conditions are currently projected to be favorable and the staging area will be at 2937 Oaklawn Dr., Wichita, KS, 67216.
