Sedgwick County COMCARE Earns Accreditation for 988 Crisis Helpline
(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – Sedgwick County COMCARE’s Community Crisis Center is now officially an accredited 988 Crisis and Chat/Text Helpline by the International Council for Helplines (ICH).
Earning accreditation is a rigorous process that required months of planning, expansion of suicide prevention training, implementation of 988 chat and text services, policy expansion and additional staffing. COMCARE expanded to a 24/7 988 crisis helpline in 2022 and implemented its chat/text program in 2025.
“The accreditation of our helplines ensures COMCARE is performing with high quality standards and implementing best practices to serve our communities,” said Jennifer Wilson, COMCARE Director of Crisis Services. “The 988 program allows for immediate crisis intervention, and these elevated standards will lead us to continue providing critical support 24/7.”
COMCARE’s 988 services will expand with the expected opening of a new Community Crisis Center in downtown Wichita in early 2027. For more information, visit Sedgwick County | COMCARE.
If you or someone you know is talking about suicide, please call or text the 988 helpline 24/7.
