Deputies Locate Stolen Vehicle, Suspect Arrested After Foot Pursuit
WICHITA, Kan. — A suspect is in custody after fleeing from deputies Thursday morning following the recovery of a reported stolen vehicle.
On June 25, 2026, at approximately 11:51 a.m., a Sedgwick County Sheriff's deputy located a reported stolen Dodge Durango in the 4500 block of South Hydraulic. The deputy turned around to conduct a traffic stop, but the Durango pulled into a nearby mobile home park.
As the deputy approached, the male driver fled on foot, leaving behind a female passenger. Deputies, with assistance from the Wichita Police Department, established a perimeter around the mobile home park.
A Wichita Police Department K-9 team located the suspect, a 44-year-old Wichita man, hiding beneath the porch of a mobile home. Officers gave the suspect multiple commands to surrender and warned that a police service dog would be deployed if he did not comply. When the suspect refused to surrender, the K-9 was deployed.
The suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his upper body during the apprehension. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Upon his release, he will be booked into the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility.
This remains an active investigation under case 2026-00027399.
