Deputy Arrested on Misdemeanor Criminal Restraint Charge

WICHITA, Kan. — A Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office detention deputy was arrested Saturday, April 11, 2026, on a misdemeanor charge of criminal restraint.

Joseph Warkins, 21, of Wichita, was arrested by the Wichita Police Department on April 11 and booked into the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility on April 12 on a single count of criminal restraint.

Warkins joined the Sheriff’s Office as a detention deputy in January 2026. The Sheriff’s Office has since terminated his employment.
