Sheriff’s Office, DEA Team Up for 30th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration on Saturday, April 25, 2026, to host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at three locations across the county.
The event offers community members a safe, convenient, and anonymous way to dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired medications while helping prevent drug misuse and abuse.
Deputies will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Collection sites will also accept liquid medications, including cough syrup, if they remain sealed in their original containers with caps tightly secured to prevent leakage.
The Sheriff’s Office will host drop-off sites at the following locations:
- Sedgwick County Zoo, 5555 W. Zoo Blvd.
- Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 801 W. Stillwell
- Oaklawn Activity Center, 4904 S. Clifton
Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps, or illicit drugs.
The DEA has hosted National Prescription Drug Take Back Day for more than 16 years. In partnership with local law enforcement agencies, the effort has removed more than 20.4 million pounds of medication from circulation nationwide.
The service is free, and no identification is required.
