Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Near 37th Street North and Hoover Road

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash near 37th Street North and Hoover Road.

On Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, the Wichita Police Department conducted follow-up in the area while attempting to locate a missing person, 23-year-old Bryce Wilks of Wichita. Investigators used cell phone technology to gather information that led officers to the area.

At approximately 6:10 p.m., Wichita police officers located a crashed vehicle occupied by Wilks.

According to the preliminary investigation, Wilks was driving eastbound on 37th Street North when he lost control of the vehicle and struck multiple trees. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wilks’ family has been notified.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash.
