Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal Crash North of Derby
SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Team is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 19, 2026, near 47th Street South and Rock Road, north of Derby.
At approximately 1:55 p.m., deputies responded with Sedgwick County Fire District 1, the Derby Fire Department and Sedgwick County EMS to an injury crash in the 7400 block of East 47th Street South. The crash involved a Honda Accord and a Ford F-750 delivery box truck.
The driver of the Honda, 29-year-old Noah Graham Boaz of Wichita, died at the scene. He was the vehicle’s only occupant.
The driver of the box truck, a 55-year-old Wichita man, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. Sedgwick County EMS transported him to an area hospital for treatment.
The preliminary investigation indicates the Honda was traveling west on 47th Street South when it crossed the centerline for an unknown reason and collided with the eastbound box truck.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Team continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
