Sheriff’s Office Reminds Families to Stay Safe This Halloween

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office reminds families to stay informed and remain vigilant as they prepare for Halloween activities.

There are more than 1,800 registered sex offenders, 1,100 violent offenders and 800 drug offenders currently living in Sedgwick County. Community members can use the Sheriff’s Office website at www.sedgwickcounty.org/sheriff/ and select the OffenderWatch tab to see where registered offenders live.

The website includes an interactive map and address-search tools that allow users to identify registered offender locations and plan trick-or-treat routes.

Users also can sign up for free email alerts that notify them when an offender registers in their neighborhood. The Sheriff’s Office sends alerts as new offender registration information becomes available.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages families to make safety a priority this Halloween. Knowing where registered offenders live can help families make informed decisions and enjoy a safe evening of trick-or-treating.
