Sheriff’s Office to Celebrate Spring 2026 Commissioned Academy Graduation

WICHITA, Kan. — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will celebrate the graduation of its Spring 2026 Commissioned Academy during a commencement ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Evangel Assembly of God Church, 11444 W. 21st St. N., Wichita.

The ceremony will recognize five new deputies who successfully completed the 25-week basic training academy. Throughout the academy, recruits received instruction in Kansas law, constitutional law, criminal investigations, report writing, interpersonal communication, crisis intervention, ethics, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, firearms, physical fitness, and Sheriff’s Office policies and procedures.

The academy prepares recruits to serve as commissioned law enforcement officers by combining classroom instruction with practical, scenario-based training that emphasizes decision-making, professionalism, and public safety.

Sheriff Jeff Easter will welcome the graduates as they begin their careers with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office. Following graduation, the new deputies will enter the field training program where they will work alongside experienced training deputies as they begin serving the Sedgwick County community.

A reception for the graduates, their families, friends, and honored guests will follow the ceremony.
