(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – Sedgwick County will host a groundbreaking ceremony for COMCARE’s Community Crisis Center on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at 9 a.m. at 235 S. Topeka Ave.

Remarks will be made by:

  • Board of County Commissioners Chairman Ryan Baty
  • COMCARE Director of Crisis Services Jennifer Wilson
  • Helix Architecture + Design Workplace Market Leader Jessica Schuepbach
  • Icon Structures, Inc. Construction Executive Jordan Ouellette

Attendees are encouraged to park at INTRUST Bank Arena North parking lots 2, 3 or 4 or in available paid public parking, including at the Wichita Transit Center lot.

The Community Crisis Center will expand much-needed access to mental health services in south central Kansas into one building, with the addition of a licensed crisis intervention center. It will also accommodate a broader list of mental health services, including crisis observation and stabilization, sobering and social detox for substance use disorders and a suicide and crisis lifeline call center.
