Sedgwick County Department on Aging & Disabilities / CPAAA Nutrition Program Service Update

(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – Due to impending inclement weather, some Sedgwick County Department on Aging & Disabilities’ / Central Plains Area Agency on Aging (CPAAA) on-site (congregate) and home-delivered nutrition program will be closed Monday, Jan. 26. Services will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 27.

Over the past several days, many centers and senior communities that receive services have contacted the agency to report closures or discuss their operating status. Uncertain road conditions to these facilities are a factor in the decisions. Home-delivered meal recipients have received enough food in recent deliveries to cover the duration of the closure. Sites are also contacting nutrition program participants to confirm the closures and provide meal assistance as needed.

Meal sites affected by this closure include the following locations:

  • Cheney Senior Center
  • Clearwater Senior Center
  • Derby Senior Center
  • Goddard Senior Center
  • Gordy Square/Heritage House (congregate only)
  • Haysville Senior Center
  • Hesston Senior Center
  • Mulvane Senior Center
  • Newton Area Senior Center (congregate only)
  • Park City Senior Center
  • Peachtree Plaza Tower
  • Sedgwick Senior Center

Those who receive nutrition services at Wichita locations from Senior Services, Inc. on behalf of CPAAA have plans to serve those participants. As weather and conditions evolve, operating statuses for Monday will be decided on Sunday and shared via their Facebook Page and with local media. Those locations are:

  • Huston Center
  • La Familia Senior Community Center
  • Linwood Senior Center
  • Maple Gardens Village
  • Northeast Senior Center
  • Oaklawn Sunview Senior Center
  • Orchard Park Senor Center
  • Sheridan Village

For questions about meal programs available to adults 60+ in Butler, Harvey and Sedgwick Counties, please contact CPAAA at 316-660-5120.
