Sedgwick County Finance Department Wins Three Awards
(Sedgwick County, Kan.) – The Sedgwick County Division of Finance was recently honored by the national Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its financial reporting and budget documents.
The Budget Department, led by Lorien Showalter Arie, earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the budget beginning Jan. 2026. The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. Sedgwick County also received special recognition of its long-range operating financial plans.
GFOA awarded the Accounting Department, led by Hope Hernandez, with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2024 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2024. Accounting also earned the 2023 Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for the “2023 Fiscal Year in Review,” based on the information presented, reader appeal, understandability, distribution and other elements.
“These awards reflect Sedgwick County’s commitment to transparency of how our taxpayer’s dollars are being used as a benefit to our communities,” said Lindsay Poe Rousseau, Chief Financial Officer. “I’m proud of the exceptional work showcased by the Accounting and Budget teams.”
The Finance team has earned the award for Popular Annual Financial Reporting 19 times, the Distinguished Budget Award 43 times and the award for Excellence in Financial Reporting 44 times.
