Community Council

The purpose of the Community Council is to provide an avenue for consumers, parents, guardians and community partners to express opinions, make suggestions and/or recommendations related to intellectual and/or developmental disability (I/DD) service issues.  For more information please contact the SCDDO at 316-660-7630 or by email as scddo@sedgwick.gov.

 

Aging and Disability Resource Center

 

The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is a trusted source of information where people of all ages, abilities and income levels—and their caregivers—can go to obtain assistance in planning for their future long-term service and support needs.  The ADRC is designed to empower older adults and persons with disabilities to make informed choices about their services and supports. Staff at the ADRC provide objective information and assistance to help people access private or publicly funded service programs. COMCARE Mental Health Services

Adult mental health same day assessments available  8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through COMCARE, 316-660-7540. Crisis/mental health emergency/suicide prevention services provided by COMCARE 24/7 at 635 N Main or 316-660-7500.

Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)

 

A select group of law enforcement officers are trained to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations involving individuals with mental illness and I/DD. The ultimate goal of this training is to provide officers with knowledge that will assist in diverting individuals from jail to a more appropriate level of care. If you have a crisis situation and call 911, you can request to the operator that a CIT officer respond.

Family Education and Advocacy

Families Together, Inc. is a parent training and information center (PTI Center) serving families of children and youth with disabilities and/or special health care needs from birth through 21-years-old. Programs include: PTI Center, Family-to-Family Health Information Center, Parent-to-Parent program, Child Advocate program, and Education Advocates. Parsons Outreach Team

The Parsons Outreach Team service is a statewide resource for persons with a dual diagnosis of developmental disability and a mental health disorder.
