NOTICE OF SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION

UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 263

SEDGWICK COUNTY, STATE OF KANSAS 

Notice is hereby given that pursuant to K.S.A. 25-2018(b) a General Election will be held on the 4th day of November 2025 for the following USD 263 school board members:

  • District 1, Position 4
  • District 2, Position 5
  • District 3, Position 6

Candidates for these positions shall file for such offices with the Sedgwick County Commissioner of Elections by 12:00 noon on Monday, June 2, 2025.  Filings shall be accompanied by a filing fee of $20.00 or by a petition signed by not less than fifty (50) qualified electors of the candidate's district. No candidate shall be permitted to withdraw from candidacy after the filing deadline.

Notice is further given that a School Board Member Primary Election shall be held for those offices which so require, on Tuesday, the 5th day of August, 2025.

Notice is further given that USD 263 has had boundary changes of member districts since last election.  They are as follows:

District 1: Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of Rock Road and the NW ¼ of the SW ¼ of Section 17, TWP 29S, R2E; thence south along the centerline of Rock Road to the centerline of Martha Avenue; thence east along the centerline of Martha Avenue to the center line of Riverdale Drive; thence south along the centerline of Riverdale Drive/College Avenue to the centerline of Mulvane Street; thence west along the centerline of Mulvane street to the intersection of Mulvane Street and the Sedgwick/Sumner County Line; thence west along the Sedgwick/Sumner County Line to the centerline of S 39th Street W, also being the SW corner of Section 36, TWP 29S Rl W; thence north along the centerline of S 39th Street W to the intersection of W 111th Street S, also being the SW corner of Section 25, TWP 29S Rl W; thence east along the centerline of W 111th Street S to the centerline of Meridian Avenue; thence north along the centerline of Meridian Avenue to the NW corner of the SW 1/4 of Section 18, TWP 29S, R 1 E; thence east along the north line of the neighboring ¼ sections, also the north line of USD 263 to the centerline of Hydraulic A venue; thence south along the center line of Hydraulic Avenue to the centerline of E 95th Street S; thence along the centerline of E 95th Street S to the NW corner of the NE¼ of Section 23, TWP 29S, R1 E; thence continuing east to the center of the Arkansas River; thence north along the center of the Arkansas River to the northern line of the SW ¼ of Section 13, TWP 29S, Rl E; thence east along the line of the south half of Section 13, TWP 29S, R1 E, continuing along the north line of the south half of Section 18, TWP 29S, R2E to the point of beginning.

District 2: Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of Rock Road and the NW 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of Section 17, TWP 29S, R2E; thence south along the centerline of Rock Road to the centerline of Martha Avenue; thence east along the centerline of Martha Avenue to the centerline of Riverdale Drive; thence north along the centerline of Riverdale Drive to the centerline of SE Louis Drive/K 15 Highway; thence southeast along the centerline of SE Louis Drive/K15 Highway to the BNSF railroad; thence northeast along the BNSF railroad to the northern line of the SE 1/4 of Section 15. TWP 29S, R2E; thence west along the north line of the south halves of Sections 15, 16, and 17 of TWP 29S. R2E, or the USD 263 boundary to the point of beginning.

District 3: Beginning at the SW corner of section 36, TWP 29S, R1 W; thence south 1/2 mile, west 1/4 mile, south ½ mile, and east ¼ mile along the USD 263 boundary eventually reaching the centerline of 140th Street; thence east along 140th street, or the USD 263 southern boundary to the centerline of Broadway Avenue; thence south along the centerline of Broadway Avenue 1 ½ miles; thence east 5 miles along the USD 263 southern boundary to the center of the Arkansas River, or the NE corner of the SE 1/4 of Section 18, TWP 30S, R2E; thence south and east along the Arkansas River and the USD 263 southern boundary to the NE corner of the SE ¼ of Section 25, TWP 30S, R2E, or the Sumner/Cowley County line: thence north 2 miles along the Sumner/Cowley County line; thence east 2 miles along the USD 263 southern boundary to the centerline of 21st Street; thence north ½ mile, east ½ mile, and north 2 miles along the USD 263 eastern boundary to the Cowley/Butler County line; thence west along the Cowley/Butler County line 2 ½ miles to the SE corner of the SE ¼ of Section 36. TWP 29S , R2E , or the southeastern corner of Sedgwick County - thence north along the Sedgwick/Butler County line to the midpoint of the east line of the SE ¼ of Section 13, TWP 29S, R2E; thence, west and north along the USD 263 eastern boundary to the centerline of E 87th Street S, or the midpoint of the north half of Section 13, TWP 29S, R2E; thence west along the centerline of E 87th Street S to the centerline of S 127th Street E; thence south along the centerline of S 127th Street E to the NE corner of the SE 1/4,, of Section 15, TWP 29S. R2E; thence west along the north line of the SE 1/4 of Section 15, TWP 29S, R2E to the BNSF Railroad; thence southwest along the BNSF railroad, continuing on the easternmost track South and West to the centerline of SE Louis Drive/K 15 Highway; thence northwest along SE Louis Drive/K15 Highway to the centerline of Riverdale Drive; thence south along the centerline of Riverdale Drive/ College Avenue to the centerline of Mulvane Street; thence west along the centerline of Mulvane street to the intersection of Mulvane Street and the Sedgwick/Sumner County Line; thence west along the Sedgwick/Sumner County Line the point of beginning.
