In Sedgwick County, discarded material is taken to one of two transfer stations and then to the Plumb Thicket Landfill in Harper County or the Red Carpet Landfill in Oklahoma.
Sedgwick County residents are encouraged to self-haul large, bulky items (i.e. tires, appliances, wood waste, brush, etc.) to either of the two transfer stations in our county. CFC containing appliances such as air conditioners, freezers, and refrigerators are accepted at the Waste Connections Transfer Station and are subject to an additional charge.
