May 2026 Recap

Key Updates

  • Reviewed Goal 1 logic model and identified barriers including funding, insurance coverage, stigma, language access, and referral coordination.
    • Emphasized cross-system collaboration, multilingual resources, and expanded use of the Language Access Guide.
  • Workgroup co-chairs shared updates on stigma reduction efforts including the Facts Not Fear campaign and OD2A initiatives, with ongoing provider and law enforcement trainings.
  • Cari Schmidt (KU School of Medicine Wichita – Center for Research for Infant Birth and Survival (CRIBS) presented the Growing Hope Kits, supporting perinatal mental health; pilot results showed improved coping, parenting confidence, and access to resources. Growing Hope
