Upward Mobility Workgroup Goals
- Goal 1: Improve basic needs opportunities to provide paths for upward mobility.
- Sub-goal 1: Increase coordination among food system partners to expand community members’ access to healthy food.
- Sub-goal 2 topic: Housing
The workgroup will learn about housing and opportunities for engagement during 2026. The subgoal wording will be drafted in 2027.
- Draft Goal 2: Improve community members’ financial situations.
The workgroup will learn about community efforts and then finalize wording by end of 2026.

Workgroup Meeting Summaries
August 24 and 27, 2026, Meeting Summaries
- The Upward Mobility Workgroup continued to learn about housing initiatives and gaps that the CHIP may be able to work on.
- On August 24, Cindy Miles, Urban League of Kansas (ULK), presented ULK housing initiatives.
- On August 27, Matt Lowe, United Way of the Plains, presented housing initiatives of the Coalition to End Homelessness in Wichita/Sedgwick County.
- Goal 1, Subgoal 1 work continues with a food pantry discussion on September 30.
Next workgroup meetings are Thursday, October 22, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Monday, October 26, from 4 to 5 p.m.
