EARP Activated for Unincorporated Sedgwick County

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. — The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office has activated the Emergency Accident Reporting Plan (EARP) for unincorporated areas of Sedgwick County as road and weather conditions continue to deteriorate.

Under EARP, drivers involved in a non-injury traffic crash should exchange required information and complete a crash report later when all vehicles are operable and alcohol or drugs are not suspected.

Deputies will continue to respond to crashes that involve injuries, require tow trucks to remove vehicles, or involve suspected alcohol or drug impairment.

Drivers may complete a crash report by contacting the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division at 316-660-3760.

The Sedgwick County EARP applies only to unincorporated areas outside city limits and does not include major highways patrolled by the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Drivers should have the following information available to complete a crash report:

  • Name, address and phone number
  • Driver’s license information
  • Vehicle description and license plate number
  • Current insurance information

The Sheriff’s Office also recommends taking photographs of vehicle damage when possible.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages motorists to move vehicles out of traffic when it is safe to do so.
