Organized Search Efforts Conclude for Ian Alexander Shelton

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office concluded its organized search operations for Ian Alexander Shelton this afternoon, Dec. 10, 2025, following several days of large-scale coordinated efforts in and around Lake Afton Park and southwest Sedgwick County.

Deputies, detectives, and partner agencies conducted multiple searches of Lake Afton Park, including boat searches of the lake, ground searches by foot and K-9 teams, mounted searches on horseback, and extensive aerial searches by multiple drone units. These operations covered approximately 3.5 square miles of park property and more than 15 miles of roadway right-of-way, including ditches, bridges, culverts, and areas along the Ninnescah River.

At this time, Ian remains missing.

The Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate this missing person case. Any additional verified information will be released as it becomes available.
