Sedgwick County Sheriff to host Flag Sojourn 250 in Wichita
WICHITA, Kan. — Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter will host the Kansas stop of the National Flag Foundation’s Flag Sojourn 250 on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, at 11 a.m., at the flagpole of the Sedgwick County Historic Courthouse, 510 N. Main St., in downtown Wichita.
The event is part of a nationwide partnership with America250 to mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the nation’s Semiquincentennial.
The National Flag Foundation describes the Flag Sojourn 250 as a solemn observance that honors the United States flag and recognizes the service and sacrifice of Americans, including those who have died in defense of the ideals the flag represents.
With support from the National Sheriffs’ Association, participants are carrying the flag on a domestic passage across the country. The journey will end in Washington, D.C., in July 2026, where organizers will present the flag to the America 250th Committee and raise it in a national tribute to unity and the American spirit.
The public is invited to attend the Wichita event.
