Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash North of Clearwater

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday afternoon, Nov. 22, 2025, at the intersection of 135th Street West and 63rd Street South between K-42 Highway and Clearwater.

At about 5:30 p.m., deputies along with Clearwater Fire Department, Sedgwick County Fire District 1, and Sedgwick County EMS responded to three-vehicle injury crash involving an Amazon delivery van, a Dodge Ram pickup and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. First responders found the motorcycle’s driver, 63-year-old Dwayne Wesley Evers of Clearwater, and his passenger, a 58-year-old Clearwater woman, with critical injuries.

Despite life-saving measures, Mr. Evers died at the scene. The woman was taken by EMS to a Wichita hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 70-year-old Clearwater man, was also taken by EMS to a Wichita hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. The Amazon van’s driver, a 25-year-old Wichita man, was not injured.

The Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Team responded to the scene. Preliminary findings indicate all three vehicles were traveling south on 135th Street West when the Amazon van’s driver began a U-turn at 63rd Street South in front of the Dodge Ram and the motorcycle, triggering a chain-reaction crash.

Investigators do not suspect speed or impairment.

After completing the reconstruction, the Sheriff’s Office will forward the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for review.

The Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the Evers family and to everyone affected by this tragic crash.
